THEATRE ACTIVITIESAUDITIONS! AUDITIONS! AUDITIONS! Parker Arts Council announces auditions for an exciting new theatre project designed to bring classic literature to life on stage! Funded in part with a grant by the Douglas County Libraries Foundation, and incorporating the talent of local regional Emmy Award Winner and Master Puppet Builder Dave Privett, this project is designed to thrill audiences of all ages while encouraging reading and literacy in our community. Shows in the series will be filled with special effects, puppetry, creative movement and more. This project is sure to be one of the highlights of the upcoming theatre season and will open with an adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. The roles of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come will be portrayed by professional, full-body stage puppets and voice actors. All other roles are available for traditional casting. The production will run each weekend from November 27th, through December 19th. Because of the length of the production, roles may be double cast to allow for cast availability and flexibility. Actors of all ages are needed. Roles are as follows (some roles may be combined): Old man - Male 55+ Actor auditions will be held 7:00-9:00 pm Thursday, August 26th and Friday. August 27th. Puppeteer/voice actor auditions will be held 4:00-6:00 pm Saturday, August 28th. Callbacks, if needed, will be held 4:00-6:00 pm Sunday, August 29th. All auditions are scheduled to be held at the Keller Williams offices at 11020 South Pikes Peak Drive, Suite 110 in Parker. Based upon response volume, this location is subject to change. Please e-mail parkerartscouncil@q.com for more information and to reserve your audition space. Actor auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Actors auditioning for Tiny Tim are also encouraged to prepare a short monologue, but it is not required. Puppeteers should prepare one live voice or pre-recorded piece that best shows their manipulation and lip synch skills. Puppeteers will also read from the script and manipulate a production stage puppet. Scripts can be obtained in advance by contacting Marilyn Spittler, Director, at 303.791.3313. |
